The Shitty Kitty show at Mission: Comics and Art opened last Saturday. Attendees mingled, boozed, and hopefully laughed aloud at the likes of this:

Some folks were even moved to draw their own on the spot. That’s what Shitty Kitty will do to you.

While all this was going on, we were sleeping on the other side of the Atlantic. That is until we got up at 6 am for a little video skype appearance at Shotwell’s Bar (Big thanks to Tom for his tech skills!).

If you missed the bonanza, DON’T WORRY: the show will be up for a full month, including this weekend when Mission: Comics and Art is taking part of San Francisco’s 10th Lit Quake. More info on all that here.
By the by… we’re thinking about having a closing event in mid November with some more live video action. So stay tuned for all the high tech developments.

We’ll be in Morocco, but you’ll be at the show at Mission: Comics and Art at 7 pm. Right? And the after party at Shotwell’s at 11 pm. Right?

By the way, in the oh-so-down-and-shitty town of Tangiers we stayed in the hotel where William S. Burroughs wrote “Naked Lunch”. We wrote Shitty Kitty comics at a bar.

Heads rolled at Shotwell’s last night! Even Steven, who hand-made the guillotine, could not escape his fate:

Shitty Kitty comics were made too of course. Some were drawn exceptionally well by animators. Some were drawn exceptionally shitty by the rest of us. All were done in the name of liberté, egalité et fraternité!



And yes, that is Marie Antoinette who had the gall to show her face– and neck which was ripe for the guillotining. Huh huh huh! (That’s a French laugh by the way.)




People liked the comics so much that they ran away with most of them before we could take pictures. If you are one of these Shitty Kitty lovers who brought one home, take a picture with it and send it our way!

Hello all. We just returned from a few days in Humboldt visiting some friends. When we were walking around downtown Eureka yesterday, we saw a “Lost Cat” sign.

Is this the Shitty Kitty thief taunting us from afar, or possibly the beginning of a state-wide feline burglar wave? I know times are tough, but these are kitties people. Maybe we’ll find out, finally, on Bastille day…

Gone. Another one.

This past Monday someone stole the above Shitty Kitty cut out from Shotwell’s bar.

One cut out stolen seemed like a random act of Shitty Kitty admiration. Now that a second one is gone it is clear that someone (or some folks) really like these cut outs. That makes Casey and I very happy.

I was at Shotwell’s last night and Tommy (co-owner with Dave) and I were thinking about making the next Shitty Kitty meet up on Bastille day. (That’s July 14th for all of you non-francophiles.) Long live the revolution!

Remember the brave Shitty Kitty once standing defiantly over the jukebox at Shotwell’s? She arrived there after our last Shitty Kitty meet up, last week.

Well, it is gone.

We were in there yesterday and bartender extraordinaire David reported that the day before when he was not there (that would be Tuesday, June 16th) it mysteriously vanished.

Some people have no respect for the revolution. Off with their heads.

The truth is, we don’t even really want it back. We just want to get to know the person who needed it so bad they swiped it.

That being said… If anyone can return it to Shotwell’s, or  give us a story with lot’s of pictures about how it was taken and how it is now sitting on your mantle/family’s dedicated gallery in the SFMOMA, we have devised a prize/replacement kitty. (See below.)

Yes, what Shitty Kitty replacement would be more appropriate than Marat Shitty Kitty, recently assassinated? It could be yours!
