Breaking the Fast

It’s breakfast for dinner every day here during Ramadan. Even if you haven’t been fasting. And what you have for the breakfast (called ftour in Arabic) is pretty much the same every single day, every place you go.

At first it’s really exciting. (“Oooh! I love this kind of soup! And these cookies? YUM.”) Then it becomes kind of normal. (“Should we have dinner now?”). And then, after 30 days of it, it gets real old. (“I wouldn’t eat another date if you paid me to.”) At this point we’re smack in the middle of Ramadan, so… I guess we’re still excited enough about it to have made these illustrations of what exactly is in the meal.
